How soon did your health insurance start after new job? Anyone on the first day?

Anonymous
I started a new job last January, and although I didn't choose a plan for a few weeks, I did indeed have insurance with my employer from my first day of work.

Hope your daughter feels better. Is she peeing regularly? I ask because staying hydrated can be an issue. Encourage fluids, even mixing Gatorade with water for flavor. Good luck.

Yes, it is common for insurance to start on the first day. Yes, the card takes a few weeks to come in. Yes, you will have retro coverage.

Going to the ER won’t save you from paying the bill upfront. They will charge you the full cost while you wait for the doctor.

I have never had to pay the up front. That's bananas.

Op essentially doesn't have insurance. They cannot charge her anything. There's no health plan. They have no way of knowing her deductible because she doesn't have insurance.

Yes, they are not going to go on your word that your insurance will be retroactive. That’s on you to pay up front and file the claim when your plan is active.
