SAHM schedule

This afternoon we will go to Bloomingdale's. My son takes a nap from 3-5 pm. Husband is home by 6. I start cooking around 6 pm. Groceries are delivered. We eat out a lot. After dinner we go swimming or to the beach. I like to keep my schedule very loose. It's more relaxing that way. We have a small condo so cleaning is easy. It's not really something I think about. I clean here and there throughout the day.

This sounds lovely, where do you live? Us DC folk can't just go swimming or to the beach after dinner!

How is this at all helpful? Its like you're responding to another thread.

Thanks all. I have done some researching. One more question I have is, after your kids come home and rest/snack/watch a show on tv do you push to do an activity like playground, riding bikes, etc before they have to complete homework and dinner is made on a day they don't have dance/soccer lessons? Or is that too much?

My elementary schooler has trouble with transitions, so I've found activities that are right after school tend to work out best - I'll have the younger siblings ready to go in their car seats so older DD can just jump into the car and off we go. It doesn't always work out like this, but this is what works best for us. If we don't have an activity that day, she goes straight to the backyard to get some energy out before settling down for the evening. Screen time, if it happens, is later, like watching a show while I'm getting dinner together.

No tv on school nights. They do homework after dinner while I clean up and supervise.

Sometimes they go outside. Sometimes not. I can’t micromanage them like that though. It’s too much stress for me.

You are living my ideal life. Tell me more...where do you all live? Do you have hobbies? Take vacations? A girl can dream...

My advice is to learn to meal prep during the day now, even though your kids might be too young to do a lot of sports or other extracurriculars. Once you are juggling two kids in sports multiple times a week, the after school period gets chaotic. Brown and sauce the meat, gets the veggies chopped, assemble the lasagna casserole mid day just to heat up later etc. Get the after school snacks plated before you head out.

You don't have to be limited to super fast stir fry types of meals or the crockpot if you do a lot of the heavy lifting for the meal pre school-pick up.

Don't be too jealous. We live in Miami. It's so hot most of the year. We just got back from a month long vacation in Dubai. We have family there. I like reading and Kundalini yoga. I used to work from home and will go back to work when ds goes to kindergarten. Right now we're trying to find a good private school for ds. The mass shootings in Florida are very concerning and I don't want to homeschool. Now I am back to changing my 3 year olds diaper. This is the third bm of the day. He's newly 3 so don't judge me for not potty training yet.
