Potomac Hills in Mclean?

Anonymous
We lost a bid on a house there recently. I did not know much about the neighborhood before that, but the houses seem a little more affordable then other parts of McLean. Checks some boxes too with sidewalks and less traffic.

Pros -
No cut through traffic!!! Don't underestimate, especially if you have kids/pets
Active, private neighborhood list serve
Safe, only crime seems to be car break-ins
Wide streets, some with sidewalks
Some homes back to woods and have beautiful, private views
Well regarded school district
Affordable houses compared to other parts of McLean
Walk to Highlands Pool/Tennis Club
Walk to Linway Terrace Park (basketball, tennis courts, soccer, baseball, etc)
Some original houses are well maintained and/or beautifully renovated
Don't loose power very often unlike other neighborhoods

You can't avoid Kirby. Going south can be a mess at the Chesterbrook, Linway, Old Dominion intersections. The 1 traffic light to DC is true but Kirby going north is a twisty mess of a road and the GW Parkway is a racetrack in the AM. Not likely to notice either of these now but post pandemic you sure will.
Lots of homes are rentals
Tear downs are beginning to ramp up, but most are cheap looking spec homes.
