We had a small pop up beach tent that was a savior for when our kids were little. Something like this https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/bass-pro-shops-eclipse-beach-shelter?hvarAID=shopping_googleproductextensions&affcode_c=&gclid=Cj0KCQiAzKnjBRDPARIsAKxfTRCY9I3uF-dOk2vGz9sQLII2i_gTIBC86ib2WhBw1y092mJYxTSvjxMaAjvwEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds
I got one from Craigslist and used it for years. |
I third the suggestion for lower expectations. I'm not saying don't go - GO! But the beach is very different with than without children. If your kid does not crawl and is fine just chilling in one place you're fine.
But if they are a crawler or a mover you are going to need to lower your expectations about how much relaxing and reading you are going to be doing. And then once you lower your expectations, take a moment to lower them a little bit further. |
Beach tent |
This is disappointing- I thought you were taking 6 months to live at the beach not taking a 6 month old to the beach. |
+1 These are abundant on CL this time of year. We have three cheapo ones that fold up into a disc that is super light to carry with no poles needed. Was a lifesaver last summer with our 6 month old. We also took a bumbo seat. She (the baby) was naked most of the time, which was great. |
+1 We live at the beach and bring this with us every trip! |
Spray bottle of clean water to clean baby’s face.
I brought a baby pool to put a few buckets of water in to play. Ideally, pop up shade tent. |
Some of these have been already mentioned, but I live at the beach and here is my beach packing list.
1.) Beach tent- as mentioned above. If you want to you can bring a large flat sheet to lay in it or on the sand. 2.) inflatable bathtub- we have the rubber ducky one 3.) Sunscreen-whatever we regularly use, plus the spray for their heads (the only way to get a baby skull covered, they will wear a hat sometimes but not all the time), plus a stick for faces 4.) Towels 5.) Swim diapers plus regular diapers 6.) Bathing suit- I HIGHLY prefer long sleeved rash guards for boys or girls that are two piece. Easiest for changing diapers and sun protection 7,) BASIC toys- shovel and a bucket is plenty for that age 8.) For adults- chairs, water bottles, snacks I hope this helps! This is my checklist for when I walk out the door every time. Also, it’s fine if they eat sand. Don’t stress about it too much. Comes out in their diaper haha. |
Plus one on two piece rash guard suit. One piece is such a pain to change diapers! |
