I never said anything about field trips. There are many other reasons I think it’s going down hill.
Can you elaborate on what you think has gone downhill? Thanks!

Bump. About to start a child there after a hiatus and wondering what has changed in the last few years...

We attend Mt Olivet (my middle just finished last year) and my two younger children are there now. I think this is one of the better preschools in arlington. My son was well prepared for K.

I also toured Resurrection and was not impressed. They have make shift classrooms- meaning they use cubical walls to make the classrooms. I felt like it was overwhelming- very loud and I thought we would be over stimulating for a child.

In all honesty, the preschool choice is so personal and so dependent on your child and the other children in the classroom. I don't think you can go wrong with any choice you make in north arlington.

Why do people think Mt. Olivet has gone downhill? What’s changed? Would you send your DC there this year?

We are at Mt. Olivet. I think that it's really gone downhill in the past few years. No, the teachers do not really communicate with parents much at all. There is one really awesome teacher there, but I don't think she's happy, and I wouldn't be surprised if she was pushed out.

Don't know if this matters to you, but the preschool and the church are really trying to be more of a single unit. When we started, the preschool was just a school in the church building. Now they do Bible versus and go to chapel and really push the church thing. I think that the church is hurting and wants to convert members from the preschool families. It's pretty obvious.

It is not an academic preschool at all, and unless you do a lot of work on your own, your child will be behind classmates in K at APS. It's too late for me to switch now, but I would if my kid didn't love their friends there so much.

Also, parking is a huge PITA.

The 5s program is great though.

What age does the awesome teacher have? Any idea why unhappy/maybe pushed out? Are the still there now?

My kids are in HS and went to Mt Olivet a long time ago and church was definitely part of it then. Regular chapel, learned to say the Our Father. Maybe it took a break from that but it always had been a *church* preschool.
