Agree that many of the clothes do not look like workout clothes. The dresses in particular are perfect casual dresses that are simple, very comfortable and machine washable.

Really can't understand why anyone thinks this thread is an ad. I am just a fan.

I keep looking at the Bettona pant. It gets very mixed reviews. I could see how they might be perfect and how they could also be a disaster. I can't decide.

Ha! Thanks, but not so sure about that!

There is a 30% off coupon for Athleta floating around right now. I saw it mentioned somewhere else on this board, but you can also find it online. Don't know about the Bettona pant, but looks cute.

If you're wearing their bikinis, I am definitely jealous.

OK, trying not to spend a fortune. I like the Approach Pant and think I'll get it in black.

I'm thinking about the Bettona Pant in Expresso.

And then there are these sweaters: http://athleta.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=49998&vid=1&pid=685216

Which, even on sale, are quite expensive in my opinion. They look gorgeous, but the reviews are mixed. What do you think?

The Senorita dress is gone. So now you've got a collector's piece.

I like the sweater but I personally would not spend that much on it, even on sale. But, I also don't think I would use a sweater like that very often so couldn't justify the expensive. You might be different.

Does anyone know how Athleta stuff would fit for a particularly petite person. I see that they have tall sizes, but I am 4'11" Would their regular skirts or tops be too long or too big? I know the pants will be, that is the story of my life. Do they have petite sizes and I missed it on the website. TIA.

It makes clothes that are very versatile -- that can be worn out and about, to work, and for a good long walk during your lunch hour at work. Not all of the clothes are athletic in nature. The dresses are just plain pretty while also being comfortable and easy to wash. What more could you want??

Ok, but it seems to me that this has more to do with the company effectively marketing an image that appeals to you ("Some of us, who really embrace a healthy lifestyle and want to stay on the move") rather than any qualities of the actual clothes. That's often the way these things work, of course, and isn't a big deal. Comfortable and easy to wash are both good. I don't think "can be worn out and about, to work, and for a good long walk during your lunch hour at work" is too tall an order for most clothing manufacturers.

First PP's quote made me laugh out loud. Thanks for highlighting it!

Having researched this extensively, especially with regard to the Bettona pant, I feel qualified to answer. Many women who would normally fall into the petite category for this pant (under 5'4") have consistently stated that the petite was too short, and they had to go with the regular. I am 5'2", ordered the Approach Pant in a petite size and it was the right length. Since you are 4'11", I would think that you would be a petite, despite what the women who are 5" and above say. Many of their pants and dresses come in petite and plus sizes. Another good thing about the clothes, although it also lends to the confusion.

Glad that it gave you a chuckle. If it works for some of us, what's your problem? Chances are, we probably look better in our clothes than those of you who find this concept so knee-slappingly funny.

I don't understand why this is so funny. Some people are more active than others and incorporate this into their daily lives - ie. taking walks at lunch instead of sitting at their desks. A lot of work clothes are not appropriate for this because the fabrics don't breathe.

You are much kinder than I am, PP. I admire your restraint.

So... Athleta = membership in healthy lifestyle community. Non-Athleta= unfit slob clothing.

Right. There's a marketing department at GAP collectively rubbing their smarmy paws at your expense.

Is it the weather or what? Why is everyone looking to pick a fight today? Nobody said this. You don't have to like Athleta, fine we get it. But, why read this thread when the OP was just asking for people's opinions about specifc items she was thinking of purchasing? Isn't the Off Topic forum a better place for you to trash people?

No, non-Athleta does not necessarily mean "unfit slob clothing". I don't know how you got to that conclusion.

And yes, the clothes are a little pricey. But they do perform as promised. I'm sorry you think I'm such a stupid shopper. If you knew me at all, you would know that this is far from the case.
