Turbo Tax forcing me to take a tax credit that does not apply

Odd. We are in DC,are using turbo tax and haven't encountered this. It must only apply if you have kids of a certain age.

Has this happened to anyone else? This is OP, I keep checking back to see if its resolved in Turbo Tax and no luck.

It sounds like you either need to keep calling TT and ask them to fix it, override it, or file a different way (on paper, with HR Block software, or at a free tax clinic if your income is low enough). A list of tax prep locations in DC is at https://communitytaxaiddc.org/free-tax-assistance/locations-2/

They don't use turbo tax but something called TaxWise--not sure if TW has the same issue as TT but the folks working there are smart and can override or help you file on paper if needed.

I assume this is long sense taken care of, but I was having the same problem. If I clicked no, to indicate that I didn't qualify, it would import my info from elsewhere and give me the credit. Once I clicked yes, I then had to manually enter everything, and then could unclick the box that disqualified me.

We're in DC with two dependents and didn't have this problem. Maybe it's taken care of by now.
