More millennials more dogs.
Or I should say fur babies. https://www.vice.com/en_uk/article/wjkgam/why-millennials-are-so-obsessed-with-dogs |
| Dog ownership rates - 65 percent in 2002. 89 percent in 2017. Somehow I didn't notice the increase myself but OP you are right. |
| ^ sorry not percent. Millions of households. 89 million have dogs. |
| My MIL has a reiki healer for her dogs. If that's not crazy, I don't know what is. |
I really think it has to do with your dog. Especially in your neighborhood. I mean, your dog is gorgeous. Your dog literally stops traffic. Once your neighbors started seeing that, they wanted the same thing. |

The internet and social media. That's how trends get started. Even 15 years ago people weren't so heavily influenced by social media and what other people were doing. Now? Apparently having a dog is "cool".
We have 3 dogs because we really wanted them. They are awesome and important members of our family. We do enjoy the cute pictures of dogs on social media. It seems that there are a lot of much adored, well cared for canines out there. Good! |

Oh yes, you are the trendsetter for people getting dogs.
|
That is true. In the 80s and 90s in NoVa and dc almost no apartments permitted dogs and if they did people opted for cats. Now most apartments permit and people have dogs now. |
I am an old millenial and the OP. I always wanted dogs growing up but couldn't because our apartments in dc and nova didn't permit them. It wasn't until I lived in a house as a grown up that I finally got my dog I wanted since a child and 4 more after that. It definitely wasn't a trend for me though. And yes he did stop traffic lol people would stop their cars to get out and pet him, comment on his beauty, or ask if I was selling him. |
