They should split up the county in 4 or 5 new counties and make Tyson’s an independent city. Fairfax county is too big to function efficiently and voters should have more local control you over what happens where they live.

Virginia used to regularly divide counties that got too big. FFX is way past that point.

NJ has a lot of very nice small towns that are not completely ruined by the dysfunctional residents living nearby. When you let local communities make decisions for themselves they are not forced to subsidize neighbors that don’t contribute their weight economically. Administrative bloat is actually the worst in very large local governments, look at NYC or San Francisco. There is a happy medium that allows for more local control an efficiency between Fairfax County and a small NJ town with 2,000 residents. Fauquier County, has 1/15th the population lower property tax rates/government spending.are lower than a Fairfax county. The crime violent crime rate is lower and it has higher pass rates on state exams. Fairfax county is declining because it is in a handout death spiral where politicians spend increasingly larger amounts of taxpayer money to subsisdize residents that are dependent on social services. This overly generous local government spending entices more low income taxpayers to relocate to the county and increases the number of voters that support frivolous government spending. The cycle will only get worse unless the county splits up.

Doing so would almost certainly mean seperating higher income areas from lower income areas, resulting in some areas that now benefit from FFX's resources becoming stressed with the need to pay for services on a proportionately lower tax base. Its even more complicated because a lot of FFX's tax base is Tysons - why should the residents of the NE part of the County get all the benefit of that?

Because of those issues the FFX BOS will not try to do that, and the General Assembly would be reluctant to approve it.

Have you seen the property tax bill increases this year? Yes, some of us are tired of paying more and more for handout. The school board trying to push changes that would harm middle class kids is going to be the last straw.

Yes, they should split Prince William County in two parts East and West.
