This is OP. Yes, I was thinking drinks? Not dinner. For those who suggested Mosaic or Merrifield is there someplace in particular?

As for geography, if you’re in your late 40s and want someone a little sane and not hideous you may need to travel.

God, all these options sound so suburban and horrendous. Glad I live in NYC.

But you’re still a sad American. So there’s that.

Thanks for chiming in! You are reinforcing all NYC stereotypes.

It’s this Friday and I’ll update after.

Bar Taco is loud. Clarity in Vienna is a great choice.

OP, I agree with these. Though on a Friday night, Merrifield is pretty busy, so you should probably call ahead at least for B Side (if they allow it?), which is tiny. In Merrifield I think Ted’s Bulletin or the Tex-mex place next door would also be fun. Ted’s has alcoholic milkshakes!

Nobody wants to drive around Vienna at 6pm on Friday when there are better options close by. And isn’t Clarity solidly a sit down dinner place? I’d think you were high maintenance and pretentious if you suggested we meet there for the first time for drinks.

Clarity has a great bar. We grab drinks there a couple times a month. The bar space is small and intimate, and the service is good. Lizzy is our favorite bartender. They’re pretty laid back, and don’t hover but they take care of you. Not sure why one would be considered high maintenance and pretentious for suggesting drinks there.
