We have been monitoring him with a pediatric endocrinologist who says all indications suggest he's a late bloomer, but it's definitely become more of an issue since he started middle school and all of his friends are having growth spurts. I don't think he will be particularly tall (DH and I are relatively small), but I really hope he starts growing more soon. He's a pretty outgoing kid, but I do think it's starting to affect his self-confidence.
My DS was very similar at 12, everyone zooming past him in growth. We also were referred to a pediatric endocrinologist who followed DS for a year and a half. He finally started growing around 14 and went from the smallest in his class to reach at least some others. He's 15 now and still shorter than many of his peers (but still growing) and I can no longer easily pick him out on the soccer field since he's much closer in height to the others.
