You didn’t think about this until now? Pretty bright. |
| DD in NOVA accepted today! WGPA 4.2 and 1300 SAT |
Not really. |
Ultimately, my child did not choose CNU, but it wasn't an easy decision. He chose JMU, which he loves, but I'm sure he would have also loved CNU. |

Congratulations!! |
My DD goes there and LOVES it! I would suggest going back for an admitted students event, if possible. Great mid-size school with great professors, tons of activities, VERY nice dorms and dining options. If you have any more questions, please post and I'll try to answer. Good luck!! |
How is CNU for science (chemistry, biology, biochem, etc.)? |

Same for my DC last year. Definitely an up and comer and a great option for kids who want a small to medium sized instate option if W&M isn't in the cards. |
| Sounds like solid school - just wish the area wasn’t so dead. And yes, we visited. |
My daughter was accepted to both of the schools that she applied for and she is going to have a difficult decision to make as she really likes both schools. I wonder if anyone has an opinion: JMU vs CNU? We realize that JMU is about four times the size of CNU, so she is definitely going to consider the differences based on size. I wonder if people have opinions about things that are not easily measured and statistics. |

Having visited both with DC last year, I would say that Harrisonburg is a better college town the Newport News. While I was impressed by CNU overall, I wasn't a big fan of Newport News. Form some kids the requirement to live on campus at CNU for at least 3 years may be a plus or at least a differentiator. My sense is that JMU has a lot more going on socially than CNU. Whether that's good or bad depends on the kid.

+3 Also, Mary Washington is what I consider the perfect small school. My kids are seriously looking at it, as well as CNU. |
Meh. We didn't find the area to be "dead." Just depends on what you're looking for. My kids aren't interested in urban schools. |
