probably why the kid wants to go there

My son is in college in Colorado. He is a senior and a supervising RA. He is former military and older than most of the students in the dorms. He tells us that kids aren’t smoking much marijuana. The biggest problem is still very much alcohol. Most kids will try it because it’s cheap, legal, and easy to get. But they prefer drinking. I was surprised that I didn’t smell marijuana at all any of the times we visited.

Isn't marijuana legal and easy to get in Colorado? Possibly part of CU's allure.

May I aks you what stats do you need to get in? DD is applying to Boulder, but I think it is going down hill and fast. Thanks so much.

My nephew, on the other hand, became a pot head of the worst kind in Boulder. Did nothing for a year, even though parents were paying for tuition. Smelled weed on the campus while visiting.

CU Boulder has slipped - it was 46 in US News national ranking a few years ago, now #98. Still a great school, especially for engineering.

I love Durango! But far far from any city - not sure if the OPs DS will go into withdrawal. Also Ft Lewis is an average school.

Honestly he might get some merit aid for being out of state if Ft. Lewis is a good fit. My sister went there and had a great time.
