Do you live in DC? Based on he bolded, I think not. There is tons of juvenile "crew" crime up to and including murder. You are bending over backwards to splice terms ... These groups are gangs and it is politically convenient for DC government to be able to say this is a neighborhood squabble versus say gang activity that could possibly impact the affluent (read:white) DC residents. As long as the public believes that murders, muggings and other crimes are just a neighborhood problem that won't effect them, everyone can go on happily about their day. Whenever a crime happens in the city the first question is whether or not the victim and assailant one each other. If the answer is yes, the crime is written off because obviously that won't impact the affluent. But when the victim/assailant don't know each other panic ensues and then everyone perks up and the crime is covered extensively but cause when victims are random anyone including the affluent can be impacted. |
Oh so we asking stupid questions now? Okay - do you know anybody who lives on or around Hartford Street in Southeast DC? Have you ever in your life even been anywhere near there? Wait, how bout this - are you the mayor of DC? Are you the police chief of DC? I got money says your answer to each and every one of those questions is NO which means you don't know what the hell you're talking about. The folks in the area ain't saying its gangs and the police and the mayor ain't saying gangs neither so WAH-WAH - sorry. You can argue til you're blue in the face but it doesn't mean jack cause you ain't the one who gets to decide what is/isn't a neighborhood dispute. Stupid punk @ss anonymous posters always think they the be all end all of knowledge and wisdom cause they got a platform to espouse their cocky half-baked conjectures. You don't know what the hell you're talking about so don't try and play like you some kind of an authority on every crime and act of violence that happens in the city. |
Um, N.E.... in Trinidad. I know much about the crime in DC. Unfortunately very much a personal experience. Gee I wonder why the mayor and police chief would be quick to not say their town is overrun with gangs! Nothing scares the gentrifiers more than [b]random violence |
I ain't ask if you was from Trinidad in NE I said HARTFORD STREET IN SOUTHEAST. Read. |

It is a way to skew the quarterly/year-end police dept statistics. By calling it something different, the "crime rate" in DC becomes more modest.
Nobody remembers The Wire episode on something similar? |
Wow. |

Langley high and McLean getting into a scuffle at McDonald's that results in no injuries http://www.fox5dc.com/news/local-news/high-school-rivalry-turns-violent-in-northern-virginia-mcdonalds-brawl .
