If Hogan ran for President, would Maryland turn Red?

Anonymous
I'm a big Hogan fan and if he could get through an R primary (he can't) I think he could win, especially with the Ds likely to nominate someone pretty far left.

But I still don't think he would win Maryland.

Okay, but with the current bar being so low...

No. I am a democrat who voted for Hogan, and the chances of me voting for a Republican for President in the current environment, with the GOP likely to remain in control of the Senate, are precisely zero. If it was possible to be less than zero, it'd be that.

No way . Democrats would vote for il pot before they’d vote for a republican as president. Hogan was elected to fix the mess Dems caused in md and when he’s out of office there will be another 8-16 years of Dems ruining the state again

I dems nominate a sjw Marxist type calling for reparations then maybe he could but I doubt hogan would win republican nomination

No (in a big way). Very flawed reasoning, here.

This, Hogan was only electable as governor because the dems have a veto proof majority in the legislature.

Hogan wouldn’t even carry Maryland, so it wouldn’t turn red.

I honestly think Hogan would do better at a third party moderate candidate than would Bloomberg.

Not to mention the increasingly fishy stuff going on in state contracts. Why is Maryland paying for new software development for software it already has? So Hogan’s buddy can get a state contract.

Elaborate please!

Never Trump Republican Jennifer Rubin wants Hogan to primary Trump:

Holy crap Meet the Press just reported that Hogan repudiated Trump in his inaugural address, including mentioning that his Republican congressman father called for Nixon’s impeachment.

And he’s visiting Iowa in a couple of weeks.

If Larry Hogan does this I may register as a Republican just to vote for him.

I personally don't even care who the Democrats nominate. Some candidates are better than others and none of them are perfect but I will take absolutely any of them over Trump. Maryland tends to go for the safest insider pick anyway so my primary vote wouldn't even matter. I'll register GOP just to give Hogan a chance or send a message.

I hope Hogan runs. I hope he tears off enough Republicans to get Trump to stumble with his base. Anything but him. If Hogan managed to pull it off and faced a Democrat, I wouldn't even mind if the Democrat lost. Just...anything but this. Anything.
