...and remember some of the New York state degree programs are at Cornell (Ivy or not)... Ag comes to mind.

Because it is better for her major and we can afford it without any problem.

I’m pretty sure that was a joke mocking the DCUM crowd that puts UVA on a pedestal.

Congrats to your daughter- that is awesome!

Cornell is the most popular school for TJ kids that is not in VA. Over a third of TJ kids applied to Cornell over the past few years.
Great school, excellent need-based aid.

Actually, it's because it is the top-ranked IVY ENGINEERING PROGRAM. That's why.

On DCUM, very few people are as funny or clever as they think. Cornell is an awesome school and congrats to you child.

Son accepted to UMass with a nice scholarship attached. Was his top school because they offer computational linguistics as undergrad (can create the major) and is one of the top schools in the field. Plus, he can take languages at the sister schools. Family from MA, we have a house there as well. Thrilled. Congratulations to all who got their target school

I have done a significant work with NLP. UMass is highly regarded. Congrats to your son!

I'd vastly prefer Cornell. The idea of going to some state school where 75% of the kids are from the same state is as unpleasant an idea as I can think of.

It's actually 67%. Don't try the other state schools if you feel this way. They are moving to 80% instate students and 20% OOS in order to protest the residents.

Northwestern is 12/15. I heard that Duke moved their 12/15 date up to 12/13.

Yes the waiting is torture.
