Dumplin' on Netflix

Just watched it and LOVED it.

To the person asking about 9-10 year olds. I would say it’s not inappropriate, but it’s just not the target audience. Have you already discussed body image issues with them? There’s taunting/bullying and some really emotional scenes. I would say 13+ is better.

Beats all expectations. But Why does the fat girl always need to also always win the too cute guy too?

I'll go ahead and be the outlier. I didn't like it. I thought it was boring. It was nice to see Jen Anniston show that she can play a different character.

But I found myself looking at the time left on the movie several times.

I thought it was boring too. Not really funny, not warm or touching enough...really didn't check any of the boxes for me. I kept waiting to be moved in some way but it just didn't happen.

To be honest, I watched it because I love RuPaul's Drag Race and Ginger Minj. But I did think it was pretty cute! Didn't realize it was a book. I'm curious - does the book explore the connection between the aunt and the drag queens a little more than the movie - aside from their mutual love of Dolly?

I really wanted to like it too given the hype but also found it a bit boring.

I really liked the movie and didn't find it boring or overhyped.

Yeah, kinda agree. I think it was cute, but really predictable & far fetched as well. But maybe that’s why people like it. I did like the cast and how nuanced the Willa character was.

I thought it was cute and so heartwarming. I loved watching it— kept me entertained while exercising.

I enjoyed it, but it was a bit slow.

I also watched this tonight and thought it was so cute! Now we are re-watching Twilight and WOW I forgot how bad the acting was

Really cute. Watched it with my ten-year-old and she loved it too. IIRC it has one instance of bad language but otherwise is totally appropriate.

Not a fan. Boring/cheesy.

Maddie Baillio (who played Millie) was great. I hope Netflix options the book about her character
