Favorite holiday teacher gifts?

I once got hand made wine glasses. Like wine glasses someone had painted or decorated.

If anything, prefer a gift card to target or amazon. I often use these cards to buy things for class. Once I got a card to lift and bought three new pairs of work pants!!

Not sure if this has already been posted in this thread but keep in mind that schools have policies (saw one posted recently) and teachers are limited to the gifts that they can receive. Please don't put them in an awkward position.

DCPS Policy: https://dcps.dc.gov/sites/default/files/dc/sites/dcps/publication/attachments/Employee%20Rights%20and%20Responsibilities%20Policy.pdf

Happy holidays!

Safe bets are always gift cards to Target or Amazon for $10-25 or personalized gifts. Food is a crap shoot (dietary restrictions, etc.)

I think max of $25 for any single person before things get awkward. But honestly any amt is welcome

I'd love that but I'm not the norm

Teacher here.

While I appreciate anything I get, I WANT cash. I get more Starbucks gift cards than anything else. I'm a unicorn who doesn't actually like Starbucks, so I usually sell them for half face value or regift them. But cash..."Oh my gosh! How did you know?"

Thanks for your input! Not sure why I don’t feel comfortable with giving cash — would a visa gift card or one for target/amazon be ok? Trying to think of universal places people will shop.

Teachers in low income schools often receive no holiday gifts. It would be wonderful if more affluent communities partnered with less advantaged communities to acknowledge the hard work and commitment of these teachers.

The Visa gift card would be great. I understand the apprehension to giving cash.

Our charter pools together and parents give what they can. Some families can donate only a few dollars. Others donate hundreds. The teachers get a visa/MasterCard gift card. This way no one feels left out if they want to contribute.

Forgot to mention anyone can sign the card and parents who can afford more pay more.

Go post in the private school forum and leave us alone.

My children’s teachers get the max I can afford.

We are government employees & cannot accept gifts over $15 in value. I’m set. Maybe a nice card/note.
I don’t need a gift for doing my job

Where do you get this range from? The regulations include a $10 limit for gifts between employees but I don't see anything about gifts from students to teachers. Are the teachers really prohibited from receiving gifts from their students?

Since moving to a FOCUS school 5 years ago I have not received anything from parents — not even a card.
