Recommend Laptop or Tablet for Middle School

We got DD a chromebook (the nicer Acer one at Costco) last year. This is not to take to school (not sure if that's what you were implying or not). She is in the magnet and doesn't need a computer at school, but she did need her own at home. Since pretty much everything for school is online, it has been fine.

We are on a budget, and Mac is too expensive. Also, she's in middle school. Not taking that risk w/ expensive laptop!
