That’s my real worry.

My 7th grader has a nervous stomach. He finds the middle school cafeteria overwhelming/stinky/noisy and sometimes has issues eating at lunch.

He does have friends from elementary that he sits with, he just doesn't always eat lunch.

Perhaps your son is going through the same thing?

This is probably not the case for OP's child, but when my tween got a palate expander prior to orthodontia, he ate a lot less and his weight plateaued. Just something other parents might want to be aware of.

This. My teen says he is never hungry and that eating is something that needs to be done. I have to put the food in front of him or else he will never think about it. He does not open the fridge because he likes to drink his water room temperature.

Is it still around that percentile? What percentile is he for height?

A lot of boys get skinny during puberty. They tend to eat a lot, though...

Boys get eating disorders, too, so that is always a possibility regardless of gender. Ask the pediatrician for a recommendation for an ED specialist & take him in for an evaluation.

Skipping lunch was the first sign that my child had problems with eating. Then her breakfasts started to shrink. This all started about seven months before her anorexia was diagnosed (which happened the week she turned 12). Within a week of the diagnosis she was hospitalized for a low heart rate. Boys do develop eating disorders, and the earlier you catch one and take action, the better change of turning it around. This may not be the case with your son, but just in case, please check out https://www.feast-ed.org

If it has only been a few days, I wouldn't worry too much. Maybe he's fighting off a virus. My son's appetite is always smaller in that situation.
