| Years ago we fought with Aetna over speech therapy. My son had excessive fluid in his ears, couldn’t hear, and speech was delayed as a result. Aetna would only cover medically necessary speech therapy, which pediatrician, and ENT confirmed and then only with their small handful of providers (basically two hospital-based practices with wait lists of - no joke - 12-18 months). It took many letters and phone calls by me and my doctors plus catching aetna in a lie to have my appeal finally accepted. I would change insurance providers if you can and make sure your doctors will help with this. Good luck! |
