Given location, they should start by visiting a variety of schools, just so the kid can see, physically, the different options. U-Mass at Ahmerst, U New Hampshire, UVM, I would look at SUNY-Buffalo as a flagship, and maybe Penn State, Rtugers, U-Del.

| Another vote for Arizona. Best part: predefined merit aid based on GPA and SAT. Just pull up the table and see where you are. We used it as a financial safety because our daughter didn’t want to go UMD. Just found out this weekend that the table didn’t lie. Guess we’re flying to Tucson. |
