If you are concerned, encourage the leadership to form a committee to address the issue. At least you can be apart of the solution. If you are questioning the security you are probably exercising good instincts. It takes a village.

To the person who commented on the percentage of Jewish synagogues that have been targets in the last year, just try counting Muslim places of worship and how often they've been targets. Jews may also be targeted less if Israel acted with any degree of humanity toward Palestinians. Its a police state and there are consequences to pay for that.

To the person who said that discussing the bombing of Palestinian civilians was perpetuating lies - you do not know your facts. Terrible things have been done to both sides. But Palestinian civilians are absolutely targets. Israelis know this and will admit it more freely than will American Jews. Please do not forget that the land occupied by Israel is by definition a land taken by force from Palestinians. We all need to accept this situation and move on and find a solution today. But its not smart to forget such recent history. You didn't really think the land belonged to Jews because the Bible said so, did you now?

To the person who mentioned Obama kow-towing to the Muslim world. Its a shame that Jews were persecuted throughout history and are so willing to undertake the persecution of Muslims today. Religious warfare is nuts, but Muslims are hardly the only people to have done this. Don't forget about the Crusade or slavery or the forced colonization and inhumanity practiced in much of the world by the Spaniards and others in the name of Christianity.

I'm so sorry that I logged into DCUM this morning. I find some of these postings deeply offensive. How dare you say that the fact that Israel bombs the hell out of Palestinian civillians is a myth? Shame on you! There are good and evil on both sides. And if you can't understand that and are teaching your child that, none of us want to send our children to any school that you recommend or to any school that you will be sending you child to. And the rest of the world is just as concerned about radical Judaism and radical any other "ism" as you are.

We considered sending DS to a synagogue preschool but my husband was convinced that, unless there were sharpshooters on the roof while DS was in school, the children weren't safe.

Well, you started out strong, but you lost me with your Obama slurs. Perhaps the president and his foreign policy experts apprehend that unless Palestine becomes an independent and sovereign state in the very near future, Israel will cease to exist. Demographics are not on Israel's side - the state can't be sustained and will be swallowed whole by Palestine. FWIW, there are many Israelis who are thrilled that someone in the USG finally grasps what's at stake - the whole chess game, not just one move on the board.
