Health and Medicine
| Poster from rural Virginia, call the Casey Health Center in Alexandria. They are offering the vaccine to kids and will schedule appointments. This would probably be easier for you to get to than a clinic in DC. |
I just called them. They are only giving them to high risk kids 5 and under. On Saturday they will be holding a clinic at George washington School at 9 a.m. |
| So so happy to see this posting. i was a bit nervous going to the area and just drove to Falls church just to learn out of shot. Are most of you that are going driving? Are the people around there familiar with the parking situation? Or are you taking metro, etc? |
| if you are worried about your safety in the big, bad city, stay home and get your shots in your own neighborhood!! i live near hine and don't want to wait in line any longer than necessary tonight. nothing worse than a bunch of interlopers taking up space just b/c DC has figured out how to innoculate efficiently. |
I am going to drive. I am sure the school has parking. |
| 13:39, this is 1329 and I live in DC and just bec I am worried about security doesn't mean I am a sheltered suburban mom, it means I am appropriately cautious about the situation that i put me and my child in (and I don't live in sheltered upper NW either). This is a night event in an area that i am unfamiliar with and people are just getting information don't fault them for that applaud them for educating themselves and making good decisions. If they were really scared they wouldn't even explore the option. Get off your soapbox. |
| i went to kelly miller and it was a great experience. no problems. parked in the adjacent neighborhood. got there around 5:45pm. no worries. |
| Does anyone know if you have to show an ID? |
are you serious? If you do live in DC and not upper NW you would know that Hine is actually at the edge of Capitol Hill with lots of families like ours who moved here because they love it here. I have lived here for 6 years and NEVER once have I found myself feeling scared. Can't say the same about Columbia Heights. I don't understand how you can live in a city and choose not to research it better and to actually go out there to explore it! |
| Will the DC clinnics vaccinate all "youth", or just those who are healthy enough to get the FluMist? I.e can a child with asthma get the shot there? |
| I child with asthma can get a vax there from a multi-dose vial. |
| I mean "A child." Typed too fast. |
| Went to hine tonight for shot and it was a impressive operation. So glad I went. Did anyone else that went see canadian tv people there? they filmed me and DD and told husband and he wants to see if we made the news. I don't know if it was even tv reporters or just people doing a documentary. |
so I guess nobody got mugged or stabbed in my neighborhood, so glad to hear that Seriously though, I am happy that the clinics are run smoothly for the most part!
I ended up not going after hearing that the wait was going to be 1+ hour (which isn't bad but not an option for us without another caregiver since I have two special needs kids) I am hoping to get the kids vaccinated next week, hopefully by then there will be a shorter wait. (or hopefully I will have an extra pair of hands to help while waiting) |
| i am in awe of the volunteers at hine-eliot in the district. they did a fantastic job. we were in and out in 75 minutes. that isn't exactly quick, but there were a lot of people and they worked very quickly to keep lines moving. i heart DC! |
