And BRYC had Mia Hamm, Jill Ellis, etc. I thought it was well-known this area was a hot bed for girls soccer in the 80s.

And Mia Hamm played HS as well...I remember watching her play at Lake Braddock all the time.

All of these woman are in the 45-50 year old age group now. Many of the women soccer stars came out of this area and played travel/HS which is why I’m shocked when OP says she grew up here and didn’t think there was travel soccer for women. WAGs was big. I played travel Year-round (indoor in winter) as much, if not more, than my own kids do now.

OP here. I stand corrected! Everyone I knew played local youth league and then for their school, but none of us were jocks. I guess now it just seems like it is HUGE!
