Kanye West on SNL

He’s an incredible producer. An okay rapper.

His fame makes more sense than his wife’s.

Funny enough, for half the country it's the SNL writers who have done far down the rabbit hole, and Kanye is one guy with guts and talent.

The SNL writers didn’t tell them to wear those costumes.

I don’t think that’s true anymore.

I found myself laughing at them trying to dance around in water bottles costumes. It wasn’t even a real song. It was spoken word with lame music. Is the rest of his music like the two performed on SNL? It’s so terrible. How did he become famous?

Have you really never heard rap music before? It's all spoken, no singing (or very little singing). I'm not a Kanye fan and I rarely hear rap music that I like, but you can't really complain that rap music is spoken. That's the essence of the genre.

I’ve listened to hip hop and rap for many years. There’s rhyme, rhythm and flow involved in rap. This had none of those things.

Nevermind. I watched the video and it was really weird and obviously not standard rap music. Honestly, I think he walked in the door, pulled some old costumes out of the SNL closet and went out there spewing whatever garbage was in his short term memory.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who didn’t get it. I was wondering whether I was just too old but it seemed to me like a bad SNL skit making fun of something.

His name is "Ye" now OP.

Get with it

He's trolling the world. He just wants people to talk about him- he is no longer talked about for his musical innovation or success, so he had to find something else to do.
