Pumping and mason jars - did you buy 8oz, 4oz or one large jar? Which size do you use?

I thought mason jars were used for canning veggies and making pickles.

They seem too impractical for pumping purposes.

Mason jars are amazing but I just got a bunch of Medela 6 oz bottles and used those, and occasionally the bags.

Now I'm picturing pretty mason jar drinks with breastmilk or breastmilk jelly...

I'd like to see the rig that holds up mason jars you can pump into...

Is this the same OP who wanted to pump on a public train/bus?

I wouldn’t try to have mason jars hanging off my flanges, pumping is uncomfortable enough already! Bags are the way to go. I like Nuk.

Also remember that the more you transfer, the more you lose as residue on the old container. So pump into the bottle you will use if at all possible, and otherwise into a container you'll only transfer once. **Is there a drinking nipple attachment for mason jars?**

Yes! There's "The Mason Bottle," and Comotomo nipples also fit Mazon jars.

Lol no, that was me and I'm going to be using plastic so it's not as heavy when I have to attach things while hanging from a strap

I pumped directly into the little freezer bags, 3-4 ounces per bag. Lay them flat to freeze, then "file" them in the ice cube bin, oldest in front.

I never find the bags to measure accurately. What brand do you use?

And people- they make freezable large mouth mason jars!!

If you're looking to not use plastic, why not just feed the baby fresh? I only froze about 100oz or so as a backup and fed my baby fresh daily. I would pump into the bottles she'd eat the next day.

This is what I do, the fresh milk is healthier anyway (freezing kills some of the "good stuff" in milk). The freezer is just for low supply days and if I have to be away longer than expected on short notice.

Very few babies drink 8 ounces of breastmilk in one sitting. A lot of them top out between 4 and 6 ounces per sitting.
