Recurrent losses ... what to do?

Keep trying. I bet you will be pregnant within 3 months.

OP here ... yes I am done early testing. Its clearly is giving me anxiety and I am catching early chemical pregnancies when I might likely wouldn't if I didn't test early.

I am just worried about this since it has happened twice in a row (which I think is rare to have it happen back to back) and given my age. I know 34 isn't that old but it obviously is older than when I had my last two pregnancies and I wonder if that is playing a big role in this.

Try not to stress too much about this. You got pregnant easily with your other two. You got pregnant easily with these two, but sounds like you got some bad eggs. Your body is doing what it's supposed to do, though it is terribly sad. Give it a few months and hopefully you will be holding a new baby by the time school starts next fall. Best of luck.

I had a similar experience, OP. I got pregnant the first month trying with #1 and #2. I was 33 and 35 at the time. We started trying for #3, when I was 38, and it was a long road. I got pregnant the second month and then miscarried at 12 weeks. I then had two chemical pregnancies. My doctor did a bunch of blood work that all came back normal. Eleven months after my first miscarriage, I got pregnant with a healthy baby who is now 22 months. My dr never had an explanation other than that early miscarriages are common and often are due to a problem with the baby - something that becomes more common with age. Good luck!

OP here....Thanks all for your shared experiences. I hope that after taking a month or two off we can have healthy pregnancy.

did you confirm your chemicals with blood tests? were your tests getting darker? some tests give false positives.

I think 2 in a row after having had 2 healthy pregnancies, is likely just bad luck. If you wanted peace of mind you could always get your thyroid tested, and maybe even blood tests that check you and your spouses chromosomes for things like translocations.

To put my mind at ease, I would get it checked out with an RE b/c they see this all the time with folks who are trying due to other issues. Hopefully it's nothing but if there is something going on, at least you will know and can get treated sooner rather than later. Sounds like SG is a good option but you may want to check out GW's IVF center. You could also post your question on the Infertility board here and folks may be able to recommend other options. Good luck!

No RE will see you after two months of trying.

OP here ... yes I confirmed with blood tests. For the first chemical I got a positive then started spotting but the tests kept getting darker. For the second I got a positive HPT tests initially got darker and then got lighter and I started to bleed heavily.

perhaps... but they have no idea for how long you have been trying.

Progesterone suppositories are the only way I can have a live birth. Figured that out after many years and many losses.

OP. I had two MC between my two children. It was very hard and very emotional. Like you, I had no difficulty getting pregnant with DC1. We went to an RE (got a referral thru my OB) who seemed to think this was entirely normal and nothing to be concerned about. Our OB was also not concerned but I was very emotional and wanted to feel like I was “doing something.” We started the testing process and she put me on progesterone suppositories the next time I got pregnant. That one stuck and now we have a baby.

OP here .. interesting that the last two posters said something about progesterone supplements. I brought that up to my midwife and she said that she didn't think that was necessary at this time. I guess because I had no problem with progesterone with my last two pregnancies?

Also just a note I have been temping throughout my cycle. My first cycle after my birth control (first chemical) my temperatures remained very low post ovulation and I thought there might be a problem with my progesterone since I just got off of the pill. However my second cycle (second chemical) my temperatures pre and post-ovulation seem to indicate that I have plenty of progesterone. They were in the low 97 degree range pre-ovulation and then mid to high 98s post ovulation, which is similar to my other charts when I was pregnant.

This exact thing happened to me (two consecutive chemicals) and then I got pregnant the second month after the last one, still going strong at 15 weeks. I did go in an see an OB (not an RE) who ran some blood tests and told me to call her back as soon as I got my next positive pregnancy test. I did, and she put me on progesterone right away. Maybe it helped and maybe it didn't, but I'm happy I did it.

Midwives tend to be much more low-intervention. If you want progesterone, I would go to an OB.

Op you will find lots more helpful info on the infertility forum if you post there. I would go to an RE and have your baseline testing done to rule out something hormonal like perimenopause. Egg quality drops off around average age 35, so it can take more tries to get lucky as you get older. Two early miscarriages isn't considered indicative of a problem, but there's no reason you can't rule out other issues.

This. Just ask them to prescribe you suppositories. They won't hurt, and they could help.
