Sh*tty parent/not a parent to their child. |
I would not say it about my toddler.
But I love in the movie I Love You, Man when the Dad says his grown son is his best friend. That’s great, I think. |
This thread is so validating, glad I'm not the only one who judges the shit out of those people. |
This is why it's so exhausting to be a parent. A bunch of bitches waiting to pounce on a silly statement and make judgments about someone's parenting, values, etc. |
This. All of it. |
Yep. But I don’t get hung up semantics. |
My dh deployed for 6 months when my oldest was 2.5. I spent every waking minute with her for 6 months and we coslept. I SAH and moved to another city to be near my parents for help during the short time. It was weird. We had a 1br apt. I did don’t go crazy. I loved it. It was a really special time. I don’t think I ever called her my best friend, but she was! |
My thoughts exactly! No need to complicate and analyze everything. |
I Feel bad for adult women who consider their mom their best friend, I mean, that’s just sad. I’m sure your mom is terrific, but you should have a same age friend who can relate as a peer. Your mom is never going to be your peer. And she needs a BFF who is her same age and life stage too!
For example. Lorelei has Sookie, Rory has Lane. But Gilmore girls is 1. Make believe and 2. A teen pregnancy and special situation. Your typical arlington mom should not be referring to her mom as her best friend. |
You talk to him about sex? Drugs? Gossip? Family secrets? |
My child is not my best friend but not everyone has to have the same definition as you for what constitutes a best friend. I mean really, drugs? Not everyone is a gossip... |
I just think of Mean Girls-- "I'm not a regular mom, I'm a cool mom" |
