| My hair really started thinning in my mid-30s, which I'm pretty sure is genetic as my mom's hair also thinned out as she got older. Biotin (specifically the Nature's Bounty brand) has helped, but I've also found that being really gentle with my hair makes a big difference. I only shampoo twice per week (maybe 3x if I sweat a lot) and use dry shampoo as needed in between washes. I heat-style my hair only 1-2 days per week and otherwise let my hair air dry after shampooing. It doesn't look great air dried even with product in it, but my hair just can't take a lot of styling anymore. |

| I'm lucky my hair is super thick. |
| Mine start to thin, but it stopped. I think quite a few women experience that - a period of thinning but there is an end to it. |

Read up on all the tips black women use to care for their hair. A lot of it is applicable for caring for thinning hair. Protective styles, satin pillowcases, proper products. Throw in standard curly hair tips -- no brushing, no heat, no harsh shampoo -- and you'll manage to keep more of what's on your head. Of course, you can only triumph so much over age and hormones.
Some people swear by massaging castor oil into their scalps to promote hair growth. |
Thank you for coming on this thread to shove that in everyone’s face.

OP here. Yeah, mine was too. It’s actually what has saved me from being bald. I don’t know how old you are, but post menopause things can change. So crawl back under your rock. |
| Hair extensions (not long) have been a miracle for me, just to make my hair look a little more normal. They are pricey but worth every penny. |
| My hair started to fall out suddenly. I am working on the causes with my physicians but in the meantime a combination of D3, Biotin and Rogaine for Men have helped a lot. |
Uh, oh. Now you’ve jinxed yourself. |
You are just a hairy gal. Do you shave your face too? |
| Accept your thinning hair as not a problem, and realize that most people don't care that your hair is thinning. |
