Is anyone vaccinating children for H1N1 UNDER TWO YEARS OF AGE?

16:29 poster thank you. That is absolutely shocking b/c it directly contradicts the information on the DC department of health's website and the phone message they have regarding the h1n1 program. Its one thing not to answer questions but another to give out actually false information. They better get on top of this pretty quickly or these vaccination sites are going to turn into chaos. The other chain on the Arlington clinic seems to suggest that that county is just as bad off regarding communication and information flow.

Fairfax County will be giving shots to children 6 months to 36 months anf pregnant women at the Fairfax County Gov. Center on October 24th.

Check the county website.

I just saw on evening news that they were giving out shots from 6months to 24 years at Cardozo. Is the news channel wrong, too? I think the poster received inaccurate info. On the other hand, I don't want to wait in line for hours to be turned away.

I just got back from Cardoza and got my 12 month old vaccinated. YEAH! There were plenty of infants there. They are doing the vaccines through 9:00 tonight.

Arlington Cos website says it's available for everyone but the infant stage currently. I think this seems to be pretty universal from what i'm reading and hearing from my NWDC peds clinic. It is just being rolled out this week which is why not everyone has them yet.

i called Georgetown peds today and they do not have the infant h1n1 vaccine yet. it was ordered awhile ago, but has not yet arrived. The frustrating thing is you are just supposed to keep calling and checking...which is a major pia in and of itself! I feel the sooner the better since this age group requires a booster and isn't fully immunized for 5 weeks so i want to get the ball rolling!

I believe that Montgomery County is holding a clinic in Rockville tomorrow morning on Piccard Drive - pretty sure under 2s (but over 6 months) are allowed. We were lucky and got ours at the pediatrician's this afternoon.

To the PP that got her 12 month old vaccinated- was it thimerosol free? Were there long lines?

Also, did they verify if you were a DC resident?

I'm not sure if they have therm. free vaccines as I wasn't concerned about it. The lines weren't as long as you would expect. I got there about 30 minutes before it started and was probably 15-20th in line....which wasn't bad at all. I would expect that people that got there a little later than me probably would wait about 2 hours total? Maybe less. This was also the first clinic in DC, so maybe the lines were longer than they will be in the future? They didn't verify your residency...you fill out a form with your child's information on it, but they never asked for verification of anything.

I find this question a bit annoying. Many of the DC clinics are in areas of the city where residents do not own cars and rely on walking or public transport. We can't just jump in our cars and drive to MD and VA flu clinics.

It doesn't matter anyway - the people supposed to be getting vaccines are high risk, kids, pregnant women, etc. and they are not verifying that - they simply don't have time or resources.

It is a federal vaccine program, being rolled out and distributed by states, but because there will be enough vaccine for everyone who wants one, there is no need to verify residency. It would just be a huge barrier to folks getting the vaccine as it would require more personnel, more wait time, and people needing documentation, etc.

I know it's hard, but you have to be patient. The vaccine roll out just started and there will be kinks. Sites that ordered the vaccine are given a two week window and not exact dates, which is why there is a lot of speculation, no information, and misinformation.

I had my DC at the 15 month appt today and our ped said our 15-month old will get the shot when the office gets it in. She made no mention of it being for 2+. I guess I should ask her about it.

I was at Cardozo tonight also. They were verifying people were pregnant or children only. Guy behind me in line did not obviously fit either category and was asked to leave. I got there at 5:30 and waited until 8:30. Plenty of under 2's were there.
