| Giant for the win. Best frosting ever. |
| Neither—store bought cakes are gross. Just get a large pannand make it from scratch. It will take you 15 minutes. |
| Costco |
Really? You can prepare, assemble, frost and decorate a cake in 15 minutes? Very impressive! Costco, hands down. |

I've made birthday cake for my kids every year so far, and even with a cake mix, it's close to 3 hours after cooling the cake, making buttercream, tinting the buttercream, piping and decorating... I love doing it, but it ends up being an after work, up to 3 AM kind of thing. |
I don't like the mousse in the Costco cakes and the frosting on Giant cakes is yummy. Ask for the buttercream, specifically. |
| Fresh Giant cakes actually taste pretty good and they have a lot more decorative options including popular characters. I also think Harris Teeter cakes are decent for birthday party cakes. Costco is definitely cheapest but they're huge and decor is limited. |

| Costco or Safeway. Safeway will do two layers with strawberries or whatever in between. So much better than Giant.... |
| I would use Giant, but I am one of the few that dislike the taste of Costco cakes. Giant does a good job of decorating also. |
| Another vote for Costco. They taste really good and you can't beat the price. |

Harris Teeter has good cakes!
I like Costco. Get the white frosting over chocolate cake with chocolate mousse. |
| When Giant had its own bakery, their cakes were really good. Now they aren't as good, but still fine. |
