Great schools in Calvert county?

And the Calvert County Public Schools does all of those things better? Including eliminating segregation?

We moved to Calvert for the schools and are as liberal as they come. Our experience has been fantastic....We lived in Bethesda for years.

Montgomery County Public Schools superintendent Jack Smith was previously the superintendent of Calvert County Public Schools.

Again -- Calvert County is a great school system for many of the reasons listed here. Just because you surround your children with ultra liberal or ultra conservative people does not mean that they will turn out how you want them to. You can raise your children with whatever values and traditions that are important to you and your DH, however when your children are older they have free will and total choice to either agree with the values they were raised with or disagree. I wish people would stop trying to shame people into racism if they don't live in a big city or major metropolitan area.

Who is shaming? Saying that a school system consisting primarily of wealthy, college-educated white people will have high test scores - that's not shaming. That's just stating a fact.

Show me the high test scores, though. I understand Niche has methodological issues, but the fact remains that all the Calvert County schools are ranked lower than MCPS schools.

I know this board tends to have a "grass is greener" system de jour. Sometimes it's DCPS and now it seems to be Calvert County. I have issues with MCPS just like everyone else, but to say some other system is just the bees knees and has few or no problems is simply incorrect.

It is an unfortunate truth that in our area low test scores are correlated with a school’s proportion of low-income black and Hispanic students. This, incidentally, is why these scores are meaningless. A white middle-class kid will do the same at a 5/10 school or a 10/10 school. The only difference is that in Calvert County he’s likely to become a Trump supporter. I have family there who love it because it’s so far from what they fear: cities full of minorities.

Is this not shaming and making false claims and accusations about people's political ties?

I don't think it is, no. Which parts do you consider shaming? What are the false claims? What are the accusations?

PP, clearly your comprehension is a bit delayed. Here is what is shameful: The only difference is that in Calvert County he’s likely to become a Trump supporter. I have family there who love it because it’s so far from what they fear: cities full of minorities.

Its sad that you are blind to the disrespectful tone of those sentences. Again not everyone in Calvert County is a Trump supporter or fear minorities.

Nobody said that everyone in Calvert County was. PP was talking about PP's specific family. If it's not about you, it's not about you.

Thanks, I am that pp. Yes, it is statistically three times as likely that your neighbors in Calvert are Trump voters than in Montgomery. Yes, my family members there express frequent fears about cities in general and minorities in particular. Of course there are some Democrats and some minorities in Calvert... but they are the minority.

PP never said "everyone in Calvert County is a Trump supporter." PP said it's likely, which is statistically true. 57% of that county voted for Trump. Only 20% of Montgomery County did.

Sorry, but it's just factually true that a given voter in Calvert County is more likely than not to be a Trump supporter.

Cite your source of stats please and thank you. Be sure to include government data or evidence based research (local or state or national) and not news sources or articles as they can be skewed.

Hello,

My kids are at Mt Harmony and will go to Northern. We lived in Mt Rainier way before it was cool, then Denver for 6 years, then Arlington, now Dunkirk. It's a great place to raise kids!

Our neighbors in Denver were WAY more conservative than our neighbors in Calvert, not that I care one bit. It makes for a great mix. Diversity if you will.
