I've wanted to see Beautiful, the Carole King musical.. I haven't yet but friends have a loved it. Roommate saw Kinky Boots semi-recently with Wayne Brady and thought it was great.

Beautiful is fantastic! I was planning on waiting to see it when it came to DC, but then it was announced that Melissa Benoist was playing Carole this summer and I decided to go see her in it in NYC. I missed seeing Carole King surprise Melissa Benoist by 2 days, ugh! Anyway, the show was so good I’m thinking of getting tickets see it again and taking my parents.

Also, it’s easier to get the solo Hello, Dolly! tickets, so OP might have luck there. My friend and I had to do separate solo tickets to see the show. Soooo worth it, though!

It deals with the suicide of a teen and how Evan mistakenly gets taken as a close friend of his and all the kids start an on-line project reaching out to people considering suicide in the name of this kid. As a person who was once an outsider in high school, I related to Evan Hansen strongly. As a mom of a troubled kid who could have easily committed suicide, I related to the parents struggling over how to help their children. Very moving show.

Was just up there for business and saw this. Such an amazing show. Can’t stop listening to the album!

Springsteen on Broadway will be a Netflix special, which would lessen the appeal for me if I had only one show to see.

I've seen Springsteen on Broadway, and I can't imagine how a Netflix special could come close to replicating the intimacy of the experience.

I just saw Skintight with Idina Menzel. It's off-Broadway but it was very good. Definitely, something I can see a husband not wanting to see, though.

I just saw Anastasia. i know it's coming to KC, but the NYC version had the coolest set I've ever seen. KC is not big enough for what NYC had. You can go to the half price ticket place in Wall Street to save time from having to wait in the mid town one. Great show!

I didn't realize it was coming to KC - or that your husband would want to see it.

Come From Away is a good one to take teens to - as is DEH. So maybe not those.

This show is really fantastic. The music is amazing, as are the performances. I saw it a few weeks ago and have been listening to the soundtrack ever since.

Some of the current shows are coming to DC in the next year, so those shows lose points for me, though I'm still open to them. Can't actually guarantee I'll see them when they make it here.

What should I see?

When are you going? I really recommend the off-Broadway show of Sweeney Todd- it's immersive and intimate, and really, really good. The actors are not mic'd so you hear their natural raw voices. But it closes August 26th so it would only work if you're going soon.

This cast is really good so that might be a reason (excuse?) for seeing it now.
