That's on Montgomery county officials. Hogan has brought business to MD.

So Hogan gets credit when he brings jobs to the state, but county officials are to blame when jobs leave? Does not compute. There is something rotten in Annapolis.

compete or deteriorate. It's not complicated. Moco is destroying its reputation in the business world. I have a small business and am very close to moving it to Va also and I love Moco but the more businesses leave the fewer there are to tax and it makes me a target. The attitude of the population is very childish and suicidal.

Pretending like not being competitive with neighboring districts won't bring deteriorization of schools, services and tax base.

Montgomery needs to bring as many big businesses in as it can, so they can be taxed.

I'm not the poster you're responding to, but I think Pike and Rose is another boring outdoor mall. It's not a real community -- with a hardware store and a library and a bakery -- and it's not even that interesting a shopping destination -- all the stores are chains and the restaurants are mediocre.

By voting for Ben Jealous for governor, who proposes all these "free" programs and expect MoCo to pick up the majority of the tab, as its tax base will be simultaneously destroyed by Elrich.

The Montgomery County population IS childish and suicidal for voting for these two. If they simply do not understand how dangerous a Jealous/Elrich combination would be. Jealous would make the County business owners pay more in taxes while Elrich will stop them from making any money altogether.

Your chicken-little hysterics force the rest of us to not take you seriously. We can't have a nuanced and well-reasoned policy discussion when one side - the losers - is claiming the MoCo Executive is the 2nd coming of Huge Chavez.

You want your ideas to be taken seriously? Tone down the rhetoric and come back toward the center. You're in La-La Land.

MoCo is still foolishly trying to coast off its reputation from 20 years ago. The reality is the schools are declining overall. The immigrant population can be a huge challenge and high needs for the county. Gang activity is up. And the whole business campus model is dying and they can’t attract young talent who prefer more urban and walkable areas. MoCo needs a reality check.

Examples? Marriott stayed. McCormick stayed. Discovery left. Who has arrived?

Big companies are holding off moving to Maryland to wait and see if Hogan is thrown out. If he manages to fraud his way into another term, you'll see more businesses running for the exit. If Jealous wins, there'll be a flood of companies coming into Maryland to show that they're supportive of a new progressive administration. Hogan is basically trump in miniature, and businesses don't want to be seen as rewarding that by investing there.

You can think pro-business, lower tax more laissez faire, policies are smart. You can think that a more progressive agenda, including higher taxes and greater regulation, is the right way to go. Either approach is reasonable and defensible.

But to believe that electing Jealous would lead to a flood of businesses coming into the state is insane.

Business (and people) are flooding out of Maryland. That isn’t changing anytime soon.
