Silly me! I forgot that spies all wear tuxedos and drink dry martinis (shaken, not stirred, natch). And here I thought that someone who nobody could possibly think could be a spy, might actually make a good spy.

Obviously, the more you show these people to be disorganized and unprepared, you add more support to the suggestion that they were simply lost. You can hardly blame them for "hiking in Iran" if it was never their intention to actually hike in Iran. If you want to argue about whether Americans should hike in Iraq, that's an entirely different discussion.
