Thinking of buying a used Hyundai Sonata

Anonymous
Hyundai@ has grown by leaps + bounds over the years.

I remember a time when banks wouldn’t grant a loan if you were going to purchase any of these three brands: Hyundai, KIA & Daewoo.

I know a lot of people who are happy w/their Hyundai vehicles.

They do not hold their value much for resale purposes, but this may change over the years as consumer satisfaction and loyalty continues to grow.

We just bought a very nice 2015 Hyundai Sonata hybrid (leather seats, sunroof, etc.) with only 17,000 miles on it for $18,000 to replace a Prius. We have a 2013 Sonata as well that we bought new and have never had any trouble with. Love these cars!

Extremely happy with my kia. Go for it.

Good model, maybe not good year. They redid the Sonatas and they are not laid out as well. I had 2 2011 Sonatas that I loved.

No offense, but KIAs suck.

They are on the lowest rung on the vehicle ladder = cheapest cars on the road today.

Driving one screams, “I am too poor to afford a Honda or Toyota, but at least my car looks as shiny as a brand-new penny!”

Both my father and stepmother had Hyundais. Transmission died in both just after hitting 100k. Never again.

Just hit 100k miles in my 2011 sonata. I have always really liked it, very reliable, but I am extremely not-picky about cars. My DH who is pickier admits it’s been a decent car but notes that we’ve had a TON of recalls... he says it’s way more than normal (this is the sonata hybrid though, idk if the regular ones are the same).
Had one major issue covered by warranty. I am hoping to get another 2-3 years.

Ive never seen an older Hyundai that didn't go at least 150,000 miles before any major trouble. And lots that went to scrap that still ran fine.

Sonatas are great. Read up on car review websites and you can find objective data on top of anecdotes. I now own a Genesis, no problems at all the past 8 years.
