#2) Someone in the community knows who these low life criminals are. I wish someone would grow a sac and report them.

#3) In this day and age of cell phone cameras and security cameras, I can't believe no one got footage of the getaway car.

#4) Prayers and thoughts go out to this girl's family. So sad and senseless.

I agree with most of what you said except the bolded. I have a 6yo child. If I lived across the street from the perpetrators, I would have to think carefully about reporting them. I wouldn't want them to find out that I was the one who reported them. Also, many of these folks probably don't have the means to pick up and move, so I'd worry about my life and that of my child being in danger if they decide to retaliate.

NP. Not a good excuse/explanation. You can drop an anonymous dime in many ways.

PP again. People talk. The culprits may try to narrow down who "snitched" and start confronting people. It's trickier than you suggest.

A child is dead. It's really not that hard/expensive to move, however poor you are or however many roots you have in an area.

Um this occurred near housing projects. No, it’s not that easy for most people to move in this situation.

And what do you think would happen if you stay silent and don’t snitch? That the shooters will miraculously convert from thugs to saints? That no other kids will get shot? That the police won’t drop the case and move on to more fruitful investigations where doors aren’t constantly being slammed in their faces?

Um, this is a random stab in the dark, but I'm guessing that the non snitchers are thinking they will get to, um, you know, live to see another day? I could be wrong here...

There's actually pretty decent footage of this heinous act. The video is at the top of the article.

When I viewed it, I had a couple of thoughts:
#1) Although 4 shooters emerged from the car, only one appeared to have a specific target in mind - he quickly exits view of the security camera, while firing; and quickly returns;
#2) The other 3 shooters remain close to the car and seem to be shooting to deter anyone/anywhere, from videoing.

I believe they cased the spot before the shooting - each had an area of coverage. To me, at first glance, it looks random. A closer look shows there was nothing random about it.

Rest your soul, Makiyah. I am very sorry this happened to you.

+1 yep

This is horrifying and tragic. The video is truly unreal, like a movie. I hope they can make arrests soon.

This is a little girl. The gun violence in this country is out of control.

I’m sure the people that do drive bye like this would obey the gun control laws. What a great idea.

Has anyone seen a Go fund Me for this family?

Not how it works since Heller v. DC. Gun control legislation is now DOA with Gorsuch and Kavanaugh. The only “fix” is a constitutional amendment.

For those saying it easy to move out of a bad area, it is not. You need a deposit, first and last months rent and a deposit on utilities. Most people in the US don't have $500.00 for an emergency. Get real.

gun control is about getting guns off the street and not letting them be sold in the first place.

Well that's a non-starter.

Come up with an idea that doesn't punish ME for something some criminal did, and then we can talk. But as long as your solution is to punish the people who aren't breaking laws, then I'm going to fight you every step of the way.

That's like me demanding your car be impounded because someone in Kansas drove drunk last night and killed a family in a car crash. Same exact logic. You don't like guns. I get that. No one is forcing you to own one. But you don't get to force others to bend to your will.

Such a beautiful little girl. It's heartbreaking, and I hope those criminals are found fast. Also, I can't get over those guys being either so unaware of the cameras or not caring about them.

They don’t care because they know no one will say anything.
