New poster here. I can't imagine being comfortable walking on cobblestone roads or climbing up the narrow spiral staircases in a lot of those towers in European cities.

Agree; I've owned Dansko shoes and the soles are super rigid, so not good on uneven paths like cobblestones. I would twist an ankle.

Agree -- Dansko footbed is basically a clog, designed for hours of standing, but not for walking. Also, that shoe can easily slip right off your foot; to keep a sandal on, you need a strap -- across the instep on top or at the heel in back.

One year I was having foot problems, and I only survived a trip to London by wearing Dansko clogs. The last trip to Paris, so many Parisians were wearing tennis shoes, so don’t worry about wearing them with more casual clothes. Last trip to Paris I wore sneakers and Arche flats with my dressier clothes (as recommended by another pp). I agree that the sandals are not a good option. If I was going now, I’d take Allbirds.

I live in London and walk a ton and most of my shoes are Ecco brand. I love Camper shoes but they are too narrow for my fat feet.

I also wear insoles for extra support.

https://arche-shoes.com/store/pc/home.asp Arche makes good shoes that last, but they’re pricey. I wore a pair around Paris last year with no issues, but they were already broken in. It took a few wears for them to be truly comfortable.

Not the OP-thank you for the Aerosoles recommendations. Headed to Miami next month and needed some cute comfortable sandals (bought 2)

Keds crashbacks. Many Parisian women wearing Kedsl Mind are leather: https://www.keds.com/en/crashback-leather/14354W.html?sma=sm.001ljv888omdexc110d18g5ichhen

I just got back from Paris and London. These are perfect choices, comfortable and stylish.

I have both the Adrienne Vittadini shoes above and a similar style from Bussola. The Vittadini shoes are comfortable, but if you are going to be walking a lot, I would highly recommend spending the extra money for the Bussola shoes, they are entirely leather and all parts that touch your feet are like buttah (I'm LI born). I guarantee you will have no chafing from the straps. They have a non-perforated style as well and last time I looked, are available on Zappos and Amazon so you might find them for a cheaper price. You won't regret the purchase!!

Bussola poster above, I forgot to include the link, https://www.bussolastyle.com/collections/women_all_products/products/potsdam-perforated-wide-straps-sandals-sage. They come in a selection of colors in both the perforated and non-perforated.
