We have an old Subaru that we use for weekend errands, seeing family in the MoCo suburbs, doing some short weekend trips, etc. We do NOT use the car for commuting.
We put on about 4K miles per year. I spend about $1.2K/year in maintenance. |

I bought a car in Feb 2014 with 38k miles on it. I lived and worked in DC until Feb 2017. When I moved away, my car had 50k miles on it. That's with me tearing up the Beltway on the weekends, going to NYC a few times a year to visit friends, and heading to Ocean City 2-3 times a summer.
Two years ago, I moved to Montgomery County, MD and got a job in PG County. My car just hit 100k miles yesterday. |
| Got a car in December and are at about 3000 now. So will probably end up around 5-6k this year? We take it on weekend trips and out to the MD suburbs to see DH's family every 2 months or so, but other than that just drive to Costco/Home Depot and occasionally to see friends in VA. It sits for about 5-10 days at a time on average. |
|
NP here. Average 10k per year.
Live in NW DC and commute about 15 miles total during the week, then drive to MD some weekends. 1 or 2 road trips per year, usually <500 each way. |
| We put about 8k miles on our car each year, and that's with a road trip to MA each year. |
|
Most of our miles are highway miles. nC coast to visit parents, New England to visit sibling, Midwest to take and. Pick up child from college, Upstate NY to take and pick up child from college.
We put on about 15k a year in that car and about 4K a year on the other commuter car (4 mile commute). |
| Live in DC, commute by metro, drive only on weekends. Generally drive about 3-5000 miles per year. |
| 5000 max per year, includes 1+2 road trips. I usually take the bus to work and walk the kids to school. |
| About 5000/year, which includes a yearly drive to Florida, which is about 2000 miles round trip. So about 3000/year minus the trip. My daily commute is a mile each way, which definitely keeps the mileage down! |
| I commute far. |

| I bought a new car in February of 2017. It has 6700 miles on it now. |
| It used to be less than 500. All the fun activities with kids have sent that to about 3000. |
|
2-3k a year.
|
| I put maybe 10-12k on my car now that I work. When I had young kids I put maybe 5k a year on my car. I walked every where to wear my kids out for naps. |
