Does anyone else wish their engagement ring was larger?

Yawn.

My sister wasn't happy with her ring. And guess what? She wasn't happy with her first house, her job, her vacations, etc etc. In my experience people who are unhappy about things like engagement rings are just generally unhappy.

Also wish I was a baller. And had a rabbit in a hat.

Am I the only one who thinks "engagement ring" is code for wanting something else to be bigger?

Nope, I love my less than 1 carat ring, but I also picked it out with my future DH, he didn't spring it on me. It's great to wear everyday and I'm not worried about a thief ripping it off my finger.

I wish I was a little bit taller.

So I wanted this ring to be significant and special and a one time investment for something I’ll wear forever. I even told my dh that. He couldn’t afford anything bigger. So it was what it was.

Do you have kids yet? I received a big fancy ring and "downgraded" to a 1 carat solitaire once I realized how impractical it was with small kids and every day life. Love love love the simple solitaire.

I love my engagement ring! My stone is under 1 carat, but the setting is stunning and unique...so I always tell my DH that he did a wonderful job of picking out the perfect ring for me. We've been married for 15 years and I still get compliments on my engagement ring.

A one carat suits my slim fingers and hand, but I wish it wasn’t a diamond but a sapphire. Ah, we’re never happy!

Same here! I don’t even wear mine anymore since having babies. It was always getting dirty or scraping against things while fumbling with baby stuff.

So why didn't you pitch in if you wanted a bigger ring?

+1 This ring obsession is a stand-in for self-esteem issues, and the frequency of posts on it veers from hilarious to depressing. Take up a hobby, OP. Volunteer.

I think OP should get a job.

Not everyone needs a diamond ring like Paris Hilton.

Personally that diamond is huge.

She is a walking target for a mugging in my opinion.

Actually opposite. I got a plain $90 band because I assumed we’d upgrade at some point. The salesman told us to go bigger because “it would feel small once the newness wore off”

Almost 8 years in I love my ring and have no plans for a diamond band to match.

My husband wanted to buy me diamond earrings for a milestone birthday and I talked him into moissonite (sp?)

Focus on what is important.

Haha - you mean focus on the 4 carats down the line?

I have a teeny tiny ring and I do not wish it were bigger. I do sometimes wish we'd gotten a different stone than a diamond. This diamond arms race seems silly to me, though. I'd just as soon not wear an engagement ring than get caught up in that nonsense.

She's engaged? I had no idea! Off to google...
