Food and lodging is super cheap.
Airline tickets not so much so I guess only "wealthy" people can afford that. And it's relatively unique so there's the bragging right aspect. |
Not really. |
|
We may be considered wealthy. We have a 7 figure income. I don’t think we know people who low key brag. Maybe it just seems like bragging to you.
I have been to SE Asia a few times. It is scorching hot, even in December. That is a valid complaint. There are a lot of sights and amazing food. Thailand has some of the best spas in the world if you are into that. Markets can be fun. I would go more often if I didn’t have 3 young kids. My toddler just wouldn’t do well on such a long flight. |
"May be considered wealthy"? Sweetie, you are wealthy. My DH and I have a combined income of $220,000 and we correctly refer to ourselves as upper-middle class in the Fairfax suburbs. OP, I think people who complain about their vacations to SE Asia likely complain about a lot of things. It is just their way of making conversation. |
| WTH is a “low-key brag”? Is it like a humble-brag? OP maybe you need to get some new friends. |
I think it's like a subtle brag? So it's kind of like a humble brag? |
That doesn’t seem to be OP. Low key is in the subject line. And the aol poster is below that. |
| They want to appear worldly by going there and then need to complain about it because they are actually miserable. |
I've been to 40+ countries and loved travelling in SE Asia the best. You are nuts OP. Go watch a travel documentary and get a clue. |
Lol |
Where are you talking about? Do you even know? Thailand? Malaysia?, Cambodia? Vietnam? Myanmar? |
Only the low cost places, and then on a well defined trail. These days the hordes are definitely from a certain gigantic country to the north. |
| My SIL right now is spending a month in Thailand and Laos, alone, and is having a wonderful time. Nothing is ruined by backpackers? WTH? |
Which country are the hordes from? |
|
China, you dolt.
