Why do wealthy people go to SE Asia ... then low-key brag about how miserable it was?

Food and lodging is super cheap.
Airline tickets not so much so I guess only "wealthy" people can afford that.

And it's relatively unique so there's the bragging right aspect.

We may be considered wealthy. We have a 7 figure income. I don’t think we know people who low key brag. Maybe it just seems like bragging to you.

I have been to SE Asia a few times. It is scorching hot, even in December. That is a valid complaint. There are a lot of sights and amazing food. Thailand has some of the best spas in the world if you are into that. Markets can be fun. I would go more often if I didn’t have 3 young kids. My toddler just wouldn’t do well on such a long flight.

"May be considered wealthy"? Sweetie, you are wealthy. My DH and I have a combined income of $220,000 and we correctly refer to ourselves as upper-middle class in the Fairfax suburbs.

OP, I think people who complain about their vacations to SE Asia likely complain about a lot of things. It is just their way of making conversation.
