Thrift stores - is there a personal limit of what you’d buy?

Anonymous
I won't buy stuff from thrift shops at all for the simple reason that these days they're barely cheaper than new stuff on sale/clearance.

+1. I would not buy undergarments or swim wear. Pretty much anything else is up for grabs in my book!

Bed bugs are just as likely to be in a non-upholstered piece of furniture as an upholstered piece. They live in the little crevices where the wood is joined. Ask me how I know.

Oof.

We got ours from a 5 star hotel.

It was my first time staying in a 5 star

They definitely sell bras in thrift stores. Only underwear that is new, though, I think.

This. I shop new for the same or cheaper often.

For me, anything that can go in the dryer is fair game. I've bought sheets, vintage nightgowns and chemises, bathing suits (vintage and new with tags on).

Pretty much this. But I’m such a tough size that I don’t bother looking at clothes. I’m looking to school amazing cookware for cheap. Or a nice planter.

That is my only limit.

Thrift stores do sell them.

I buy sheets, tablecloths, placemats, furniture, cookware, dishes, decor, framed pictures, frames.

Love thrift stores.

People buy these things, OP, which is why they’re on sale in thrift shops.

Not sure why you want to be dramatic about it.

I buy designer clothes on eBay and certain local consignment stores, and have furnished half my house with period pieces from Craigslist and estate sales.

And no dolls because I saw in a movie that they could be demonically possessed.

+1. I'll buy plenty of stuff from a thrift store, including clothes. But definitely not dolls. It's like, 90% guarantee of possession there. *shudder*

I buy cookbooks, especially the “Anywhere First Baptist Church Cookbook 1982” type.

I don’t think I’d buy sheets.

No clothes, shoes, any personal item like that. Nothing with fabric, basically paintings, picture frames and wood furniture.

Definitely not dolls. My aunt bought a doll at a thrift store once. It kept crying red tears. Completely ruined the lace doilies on her end tables, where it usually sat. When it wasn't eerily watching you.

I remember on Real Housewives of New Jersey where Theresa Guidice wouldn't live in a "used house."
