| I agree skip Italy for this trip and just do France. Highly recommend the Versailles bike tour. You’ll want more time in Paris. |
| Another who agrees--but does you DH have heart set on Italy? Kind of get the impression he's not really into Paris from your first post. |
Op here. Yes. He loves Paris but he’s been many times and lived there also. I wish we didn’t have to go to the wedding so we could’ve spent more time in Paris. He is ok with spending an extra day in Paris but after the back and broth in Paris I want a more relaxed itinerary in italy. And yes. We do want to see both countries. It’s a “tour” for me |
| Keep the itinerary and add the extra day in Paris. The train to Rome is a long ride. Even with all the additional time associated with flying doing so will probably save you c. 3-4 hours. |
| I would skip Versailles and have more time in Paris |
| You have lots of good advice here OP. Skip Versailles and if you can manage it definitely get an apartment - a way better experience IMO. Honestly, the times we have been to Paris, we didn't over pack it with sightseeing, just walking around the different neighborhoods is enough for me. Really wished I had done study abroad there in college. |
That trip won't be relaxing for sure but if you want to see Italy, go for it
From Bayeux, you can stop in Deauville as well, before heading back to Paris. There's not much to see in Bayeux, I'd advise you to go back to Paris as soon as you can after the wedding. |
Thanks! This is what I am concerned about. My husband has family friends there so he is really fond of Bayeux. I'd like to attend the wedding and get back to Paris ASAP. |

OP here.
Another question for everyone. Which neighborhoods in Paris, Florence and Rome should we seek accommodations? Any reccos would be grand! |
Some will depend on your own interests/preferences. We rented an apartment in the Marais/4th Arr in Paris, loved the neighborhood and the Saint-Paul metro was really convenient. We rented an apartment just outside of Piazza Navona in Rome, near Campo de' Fiori. Enjoyed that neighborhood and the convenience of it as well. Florence we stayed in a hotel in Duomo area, nothing special but it was convenient to all the tourist stuff. |
Was going to say the same places in Paris and Rome. Great minds. |
We rented an apartment near Piazza Navona in Rome and it was great. In Florence we only had two nights and stayed in a hotel in the Oltrarno neighborhood and really liked it- quieter in the evening and lots of good restaurants nearby. |
| I don't think you need a day in Versailles, this seems like a lot of back and forth. |
