Why are most Social Studies teachers men?

Most of my history/ss teachers were also men. I still remember my jr high teachers going on and on about the similarities between Lincoln and JFK's assassinations.

My high school social studies and history teachers were women (as it happens, they had PhDs in History), so this thread isn't resonating with me.

Now that you mention it...most of my ss teachers in jr. high/high school were men.

My 6th grade daughter has a male teacher for SS.

I think OP worded it wrong.

The vast majority of male teachers teach social studies (or PE).

I would agree with this.

OP here. No I did not word this wrong. Almost every school website I look at has more males than females as SS teachers.

I looked up my kid's school - Einstein HS. 10 of 15 SS are male. Only 7 of 13 math teachers are male. Interesting! I'm glad that men are finding a subject they are passionate about to teach.
