DCPSB hearing-- lots of denials

Lots of jargon on this thread. I have a doctoral degree & don’t know what many posts are talking about.

DCPCSB = DC Public Charter School Board [but the initial thread was missing the second "C"]

WMST = Washington Math/Science/Technology Public Charter School
Closure notice: http://www.dcpcsb.org/blog/board-votes-close-wmst-pchs
School website: http://www.wmstpchs.org/

QSR = Qualitative School Review
available here: http://www.dcpcsb.org/report/qualitative-school-reviews.
and not to be confused with, no kidding, SQR, the "School Quality Reports" on the PCSB site, available here: http://www.dcpcsb.org/schoolquality

PMF = Performance Metric Framework, which to be fair, leads to the School Quality Reports. PMF definitions and archive available here: http://www.dcpcsb.org/performance-management-framework-pmf

What does having a doctorate have to do with anything? If you are familiar with a field or topic you know the jargon. If you aren't, you don't. No phd required to understand that, right?

The QSRs are usually done the year before their charters are up for renewal.

But finances combined with PMF seem to be most important factors.

I think Harmony is going down. Declining enrollment, declining test scores. The only question is if their parent company continues to prop them up financially. But it is a mystery to me why 5 more years of that is a good idea. And City Arts' QSR... wow.

Both Harmony and Democracy Prep were "fast-tracked" by the PCSB for approval and opening. Both are doing poorly. I wonder if they'll get another five years and if the PCSB will rethink it's strategy of "fast tracking" applications from "experienced operators" from outside of DC.
