What makes you think this will be limited to a letter?

It could also involve an administrative hearing (and all the work that would be needed to prepare for it), extensive negotiations, and potentially a lawsuit. Total costs easily end up well over $15,000 depending on the case.

More importantly, if only a letter or other minimal work was needed, any unused portion of the retainer would be returned.

So many questions.

If it’s a threat of expulsion, it probably is a private school. Although we don’t know if it’s expulsion or something else.

You don't think that there are plenty of parents at Langley, Whitman, Wilson, etc who could pay for a top flight lawyer should little Zephyr find himself in trouble?

Now I KNOW this is that lawyer (see above) drumming up business. Wow, that's bad.

You think someone pointing out that lots of parents in public school have money means that the poster is promoting a particular lawyer? How exactly do you get to that conclusion? Even more than that, what would make you think that it is that lawyer self promoting?

I truly don't understand your logic on either point.

Not the OP. If its not any of the above could there be other reasons for threat of expulsion? How much time does a parent have until the threat is executed?

Can anyone stick to the thread and provide a proper education lawyer’s name, from experience (not comraderie)?

Well, the only one named was not from comraderie. As I said, I know him in a professional context where I feel I was in a position to asses his abilities. Plus, I've worked with some other folks at the firm.

But, as I acknowledged, I have never been a client of his or the firm. If I had other names to share, I would give them to you, but that is the only person I know who specializes in this field. (To be clear, there are probably others, I just don't know them.)

Take this rec for whatever it is or is not worth to you.
