| In all of our years of daycare - and we have three kids - the single only thing we’ve ever lost was a crib sheet. This just isn’t a problem was saw. We used three different providers over the years. |

I'm with you, OP. That's ridiculous. At our daycare, it's rare for things to be lost and nearly everything turns up. I label hats, coats, and gloves because we often see others in class with the same ones. But the backup clothes, never have we had issues getting our stuff back, and that's without labeling. I would talk to the daycare director about it.
And FWIW, our good Northern Virginia daycare center is $335/wk for the toddler room. Elementary school is a whole 'nother ball of wax

Congratulations. You are clearly superior to daycare workers. I think it is part of center daycare. |
Calm down, Troll. I disagree with you. Learn to live with it. I would rather my daycare worry about my child and keep them engaged than worry about a t-shirt. |
|
On the flip side, I pay $200 a week (in a VA suburb) and they haven't lost one thing yet.
Mine provides sippy cups and everything. We do come home in someone else's diaper if we've ran out and they haven't told us to bring more. |
| I agree, OP! It is annoying. We paid $100 a day and it annoys me when they lose stuff. I would be annoyed even if I pay $300 a week. |
| It would totally annoy me. We’ve only had one item go missing but it was unlabeled. Honestly, if they’re constantly struggling to keep these items straight, it would also give me pause about anything else that could matter. Some kids need specific diapers, creams, lotions, etc. No harm in raising it with the teacher(s). |
| How do you labels everything? With custom made labels or sharpie on tag/masking tape? Which one works better, and my kid has a common first name, so do you label both the first & last name to identify? The preschool center he is going to has more than 200 kids, so there are going to be many kids. |
I'm not but you seem to think that us lowly daycare workers can't keep track of items AND care for children. I don't know- maybe you can't. Maybe you also missed the other poster's saying that their centers keep track of items too. |
And before you start questioning why I am on DCUM- I open at 9. |
| That sounds annoying OP. Our daycare has cubbies for each kid so back up clothes are grabbed out of there and the dirty ones put back in for me to take home at the end of the day. Our center washes the crib sheet and blanket we provide for our baby every week. I have a toddler and baby, and we rarely lose anything. Occasionally we’ll get sent home with a random bib and maybe a baby spoon we sent in will go missing, but not on a regular basis. It sounds like your daycare needs a better system to keep track of things. |
+1 If the stuff is getting mixed up and the other parents aren't spotting it or returning the items, it can add up. Also, have you asked the daycare if they have any of the missing items? Maybe they have a big box of stuff. Is your stuff all clearly labeled? It seems they have lost more than the usual amount of stuff (I just buy mittens in bulk, because they have a half-life of three days, but losing things like sippy cups is less common), so either they are extra-sloppy or your stuff isn't labeled clearly or something else is going on. |
| It happens to a degree at all centers, but this sounds excessive... those teachers must be super busy. |
Oh wow. I had no clue people had to provide crib sheets and blankets. |
No, it doesn't. This was just not something that happened at the centers we used. But...we labeled everything, and the kids had cubbies. They are disorganized, and it's not about how much you are paying. They don't have a system in place to keep the children's items in order. |
