Is it appropriate to be FB friends with your kids’ teachers?

It’s a boundary issue and it can put teachers in an awkward spot. I wouldn’t do this until after my child had left the grade and there was no chance that another child would have the same teacher.

I have former students on my FB. I don’t think I’m friends with any of their parents, but I think it’s okay once the student is out of the class (and there are no younger siblings coming along soon). But my FB page is fairly tame.

I also have one of my own child’s preschool teachers on my FB.

I say it’s not.

Everyone is presumably an adult, I don’t see why it wouldn’t be. Teachers are allowed to have friends with people who have children. It is not appropriate for a teacher to be facebook friends with a student, when they are their student.

This. Agree that we're all adults, and don't see why it would be an issue.

Why do you think it's not appropriate OP?

I think it’s inappropriate but it’s extremely common at my ES, especially with certain teachers.

After preschool, never.

I am a parent and would never send a friend request but would be delighted to accept one from a teacher.
