I asked about homework. They stressed the fact that kids need to know their multiplication facts by end of summer and the 3rd grader teacher will send resources for us to prepare our 2nd graders. They stresses it A LOT. My daughter asked "what about spelling?"

Wow, so different from ours. They specifically told us NOT to do this and they would all get there together at the start of 3rd.

Like anything in FCPS, they will go over, but maybe not in as much detail as you would like.

So homework for the summer? Memorize multiplications? They said nothing like it at our orientation...

I don't think it's necessary for advanced kids. They will go over it next year and those kids will pick it up quickly. But if your child takes a long time learning them, then the school might move on before your child is ready.
